Before leaving Phoenix we made a stop for our friend Kurt, who after growing up in Corvallis lived in Phoenix for school and when he did he lived at the Gold Bar coffee shop. We can see why. Leave it to Kurt to find the equivalent of The Beanery in the middle of Arizona.
The rest of the day, however, dragged as we hung in limbo thinking there was nowhere for us to stay in the town we had stopped in for the night. Lucky for us where Walmart failed, Cracker Barrel saved. Before settling in for the night we savored our last In and Out for what will be a long time and cherished how it wasn't McDonalds.
