Day 69 (Tuesday 8/28/12)- Fort Collins, CO

Today we got to be a part of Colorado State University's history. Since CO is a swing state it apparently receives many visits from candidates but its been 50 years since a sitting president has visited CSU and we just happened to luck into getting to be a part of it. The campaign stop was announced just a week prior and we found out yesterday so that did not leave much time for the campus to get ready and left no time for us to get tickets (some people apparently camped out at 3 am to get theirs).

As part of the last ditch preparations a small warning sign was posted on the bicycle rack where Frankie had left his bike while we walked around yesterday. When we arrived last night to retrieve it the Police impounding department had already beat us to it. We questioned a security "officer" driving around and she was no help, seeming to get great enjoyment from Frankie's plight. She had said there would also be an impoundment fee beyond the cost of the $30 lock they ruined when they took the bike but we are hoping she doesn't know what she's talking about.

Since we had no tickets and no way to get past the incredibly impressive display of Police and Secret Service detail we had to settle for watching the speech in the library next to where he was speaking.

Isaiah has done a special review on Obama's legacy to date and his impressions of the speech which is in it's own entry.
