Day 45 (Saturday 8/4/12)- Polson, MT

Before heading out of our favorite town we made a very important stop at Big Sky Brewing. Hydrating ourselves with free beer samples seems, after all you can drink McDonald sodas, a sensible decision.

Next was Polson, which has a couple of worthwhile stops along the way. First is St. Ignatious church. This church was built in the 1800's and contains beautiful murals painted, incredibly, by a church member, as well as elegant statues and unique stained glass windows. The church was built in response to local Native tribes requests that a priest come and settle so they could learn Catholicism.

The next stop was the National Bison Range Wildlife Refuge. As we learned in the visitor's center in 1860 the nation was home to over 30 million bison. By 1882 there were a total of 100 remaining! This is an important reminder of why places like this refuge are so special, helping preserve the continuation of important speicies.
After finishing a beautifully scenic drive we arrived in the town of Polson which hosts the breathtakingly beautiful Flathead lake which runs right along the edge of town. The evening was spent with Isaiah swimming in the lake, warming up on the shore and swimming some more and me taking advantage of the space of a picnic table to scrapbook (and no, actually, Isaiah's hobbies take up more room in the van, thank you very much) (I'd argue its only my messiness that makes it seem this way)

We spent the night at the not-so-super Walmart which has not yet been converted to a superstore and therefore resembled (wait for it....gasp) a K-mart. We spent maybe half an hour just trying to find something to buy so we could use the bathroom. Eventually we settled on postcards totaling 53 cents. After a jaunt to the bathroom I wanted my money back.
