Day 46 (Sunday 8/5/12)- Karispell, MT

Before leaving beautiful but otherwise inadequate Polson we drove up to their famous dam. It is a short, but beautiful walk out to the dam viewing area. With the crystalline Flathead lake at the base, majestic cliffs to one side and lush trees to the other, this is really a place to see.

We got back on the road and made it to the town of Kalispell, initially to some disappointment. The Walmart G.P. (our GPS) (Yes, we shorten the names of already abreviated objects, but compensate by at other times calling it Geeperson. What do you want from us, the road can get lonely. You can only start judging if I start looking like Castaway-era Tom Hanks and start corresponding with sports equipment. Geep talks back, and in an adorably stern British accent, so it's not weird) had directed us to was clearly shut down and for a minute it seemed like we would have to drastically revise our plans. It was then we saw in the background a glowing halo shaped in the form of a "M" and turned to McDonald's as our only hope (or we just wanted soda. It was really hot, so hard to say...). The friendly McDonald's staff explained that unlike most Walmarts that, just to spite their predecessors, are planted right next to their older, smaller, inferior versions, the new very super Walmart did exist and was on the other side of town.

Once our fears had been eased in a fountain of carbonated caffeine we were able to spend the evening lounging in the grass at the sports complex across the street, drinking a half gallon of orange juice (not feeling 100%) (No, it couldn't have been the previously described soda od) and watching the movie 50/50 in the only place one would want to watch a movie-the Walmart parking lot. (And now another review of another movie that's been out for a year and a half). The movie stars Seth Rogan and Joseph Gordon Levitt-Smith and is based on the real life experience of Seth's friend with cancer. It is well done and has some great moments, we really liked it overall. (I actually was a little dissapointed. Joseph is, as usual, great. So was the actress who played his therapist. Though I've never seen a cancer comedy before, still this seemed a bit predictable. And yet the end was moving. It was solid overall)
