Day 319 (Wednesday 6/5/13)- Savannah, GA

If there is a more beautiful town than Savannah we haven't seen it yet. The entire downtown is made up of 24 mini parks surrounded by lovely historic homes sprinkled every couple blocks throughout the area. Adding to the town's incredible beauty is all the trees are draped in Spanish moss with each block shrouded in tree canopies. In fact it was the canopies that protected us as we set out during the only two hours promised to be rain and thunderstorm free.

We were lied to.

This was especially problematic considering that Isaiah was wearing slippery shoes on wet brick work. He managed to keep his balance...mostly.

Each square we explored was unique with some having fountains, some historic statues and some just lovely landscaping. Chippewa Square might be the most famous as the movie Forrest Gump filmed the park bench scene here.

During our exploration we also saw many historic homes and churches. The only one where we felt cheated was at the Juliet Gordon Low house. The outside of Girl Scout founder's home is completely covered so you cannot see a thing without springing for the tour. We didn't and so it will forever have to remain a mystery.
